Fairbank wind turbine owners appeal contempt judgment

District Court Judge John Bauercamper ordered county officials and the wind companies to take steps to demolish the structures, but he put the order on hold while companies appealed his decision, subject to the posting of a $450,000 bond to cover removal costs. ...On June 12, Bauercamper issued his contempt ruling, noting in part the $450,000 bond was never filed.

Flicker, noise rules added to DeKalb County wind ordinance draft

The DeKalb County Planning and Zoning Committee passed several more elements of the ordinance draft during its special meeting. Those new components passed require no radio frequency and electromagnetic field interference as a result of wind turbines, a zero-tolerance policy for shadow flicker and flash, and sound level regulations including a maximum allowable level of 30 decibels from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. and 35 decibels from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Plans for a wind farm ran into a big problem Monday night after the township voted to ...set stricter rules for wind farms. Tuesday night, township residents voted 86 yes - 57 no to creating a zoning ordinance which would create new rules for their land.

DeKalb County Planning and Zoning Committee will evaluate wind turbine setback standards next

DeKalb County Board Chairman Mark Pietrowski Jr. said the moratorium to come up with a wind farm ordinance still is in effect through September. That comes after the County Board approved a solar farm ordinance that went into effect last month. Pietrowski said the board is still in the research process for the wind farm ordinance, and there is no draft of the ordinance yet.

Revised wind regulations remain in limbo after 3-2 vote

Commissioner Lee Gabel, however, proposed an amendment that essentially increases the distance towers must be located from the properties of both those who will accept towers on their land and those who won’t. On a 3-2 vote the commissioners agreed to take action on the amendment at their June 7 meeting. They could not do so Tuesday because the public must be allowed time to view the changes.
