I’ve been criss-crossing Ontario talking about wind turbines. I can’t stand wind turbines. I can’t stand how they are destroying areas and communities. I’m going to do everything I can to make sure we halt any other wind turbine farms, and I’m going to address the ones going in. You have a huge supporter here,” says Ford.
As part of its review process to determine whether to approve an application to allow construction of wind turbines on 32,000 acres of public land in Nevada adjacent to the California border just west of Searchlight, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) conducted a series of scoping meetings to allow public input. At a recent meeting in Las Vegas a half dozen speakers largely expressed support for renewable energy but not on the proposed site.
A proposed wind project was hit with a gale of opposition Monday, as the Bureau of Land Management hosted the first of four meetings on the massive renewable energy project.
Since then, more 20 landowners have come forward with complaints their wells became clogged after either pile driving took place or the blades began turning on a nearby wind tower.
The community’s health is too important to just take a company’s word that its products are safe. With community health the goal, the burden of proof related to health effects should be on the officials to uphold the health, safety and welfare of the people.
A landowner who said his property was damaged by blasting at a nearby wind power facility has reached a settlement with developers.
A proposed wind farm in rural Madison County has been put on hold by the board of commissioners after residents expressed concerns.
Several residents living near the turbine continued to report disturbances from the turbine, however, and asked town officials to agree to an independent noise compliance investigation of the turbine in an effort to collect the evidence necessary to take protective action under both the Nuisance Law and under the state’s Noise Pollution Regulation.
"It's all backed by greed. the almighty dollar. with disregard to human lives and the wild life and it's devastating. our hearts are broken," Kim Tindel said.
The council has leverage over Green Development’s actions that it can use to address the residents’ complaints, he added. “You are the landlords so you can’t say you’re not responsible. ... Everything falls on the landlord,” he said.
I live directly on the line of the proposed North Ridge Wind project area, not a half-mile from the proposed turbines and well within the area that would be impacted by the project. My life was threatened by a close family member of a leaseholder for speaking out about the project, but I must stand for the truth and do the right thing.
A working group of the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery of Medicine caused a stir at the congress of the professional society with their research on the impairment of the heart muscle by wind turbine infrasound. In this interview, the lead researcher explains that wind turbine infrasound can reduce the force of cardiac muscle contractions, under certain conditions, by up to 20 percent.
WILMONT — More than 100 people filled the Wilmont Community Center Wednesday night for a presentation on the upcoming Nobles 2 Wind project.
In its summary, and with unanimous support from relevant experts, AAT found that there were numerous recorded instances of wind turbine noise exceeding 40 dB(A) — a recognized threshold for annoyance/sleep disturbance. “Even if it is not audible, low-frequency noise and infrasound may have other effects on the human body, which are not mediated by hearing but also not fully understood,” the summary reads.
Supporters and detractors of the proposed Freeborn Wind Farm discussed their views Tuesday during a public forum at Albert Lea Armory.
"Unwanted noise on our property, shadow flicker on our property the chance that marketability of our homes, if we decide we want to move is reduced. The potential of association from the turbines to have some ill health effects,” said Doreen Hansen of the Association Of Freeborn County landowners. “So we would like to see respectful sighting. Landowners that choose to have a turbine on their land, that's fine, but none of the ill effects should go on the land of a non-participant."
Much of the opposition is centered in the Midwest, which has the nation's greatest concentration of turbines. Opponents have banded together to block wind projects in at least half a dozen states, including Nebraska, South Dakota, Indiana and Michigan. Disputes are still being waged in Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois and Maryland. Intense opposition also exists in parts of the Northeast, including Maine, New York and Vermont.
The residents called on AGL to “fix” existing problems at Macarthur, such as deteriorating roads, before launching into a new project. Resident Jacinta Coffey said the area was “becoming a dumping ground for wind energy” and it was "unfair” to the community with more than 240 wind turbines to be built in Hawkesdale and surrounding areas.
If you think the proposed industrial wind turbines won’t affect you, it may be time to reconsider. ...How will the loss of all the things you take for granted in Montgomery County affect you, your family and friends? If you don’t know the answer to that, you haven’t asked enough questions.
Wind power also creates a waste product that is dumped on neighbors. That waste is the light flicker and rhythmic thumping that travels to the next property owner. The harm caused by this waste is real and sometimes severe. It is absurd and offensive for the wind industry to claim these effects are imaginary.
