Rollins Wind turbine pad construction

Rollinswind1_thumb First Wind has begun construction of the 60 megawatt Rollins Wind facility consisting of forty 1.5 megawatt turbines. This turbine site is blasted about 20 feet down into bedrock. Vinelhaven turbine towers over home

Dsc_2070_thumb The Fox Island Wind Farm is located in Vinalhaven, Maine, an island community about 12 miles off the coastline. The wind facility, consisting of 3 GE 1.5 MW wind turbines, was commissioned on November 17, 2009. Resident living near the turbines experienced problems with noise from the turbines as soon as they were turned on. This photo was taken near a home impacted by turbine noise.

Waubra Wind Farm and the city of Ballarat

Waubrawind_ballaret_thumb Australia's Waubra Wind Farm, erected by Acciona Wind, is the largest wind facility in the southern hemisphere with 128 turbines and 192 megawatts capacity. The project consumes 173 square kilometers or 43,000 acres of land located 35 kilometers (nearly 22 miles) from the City of Ballaret shown in the foreground of the image. Commissioned in September 2009, the project has been plagued by news reports of noise disturbance.

Turbine build-out in Michigan's Thumb area

What2800turbineslooklike_thumb This image depicts what the Thumb region of Michigan might look like should 2800 wind turbines be erected as proposed by the Governor's Wind Zone Board. This would be the equivalent to building 88 wind farms sized equal to the John Deere Harvest wind facility (32 turbines). The turbines marked in red on the image are existing facilities both owned and operated by John Deere. The Harvest wind site is located in the north west. The Michigan Wind I facility consists of 46 towers in Ubly to the south east. Numerous complaints of excessive noise from the towers have already been filed.
