OSHA inspecting TPI Composites; GE 'closely monitoring' employee injuries

An employee complaint alleging exposure to chemicals and inadequate protective equipment has sparked a new OSHA investigation at TPI Composites, a wind blade manufacturer in Newton. Iowa Labor Commissioner Michael Mauro said OSHA inspectors have been inside the plant in recent days. The agency, which he oversees, has received at least one OSHA complaint since a Dec. 17 Des Moines Register investigation explored the working conditions at TPI.

Studies explore wind turbines and noise, sleep, health, annoyance and safety

Are wind turbines bad for you? Do they keep people up at night? Are they annoying? Do they negatively impact health? Are they dangerous? These questions are on Cass County residents’ minds as a company prepares to bring as many as 150 wind turbines to Adams, Bethlehem, Boone and Harrison townships in the northern part of the county along with neighboring Miami County.

Nearby wind host town is learning hard lessons

Today, Orangeville is wasting precious money that would never have needed to be spent, had common sense ruled, instead of greed. Because of the self-serving political greed of the current Wyoming County regime, ever-rising taxes are devastating the economic base and quality of life in industrial wind “company owned” towns.

Stop subsidizing the Big Wind bullies

The biggest recipient of taxpayer cash on ACENY’s roster is the world’s biggest and most-litigious wind-energy producer: NextEra Energy ...NextEra is using some of that taxpayer cash to sue small towns including Hinton, Okla., and Almer and Ellington in Michigan. What did those tiny towns do to irritate the energy giant, which has a market capitalization of $73 billion? They prohibited installation of wind turbines, the latest models of which now stand about 800 feet high.

Windfarm neighbor: You should know this

As a Tipton County property owner, I did extensive research on the possible effects of having Industrial Wind Turbines. Our county was the first to attempt to have the turbines located close to residential homes and communities. Recently, I read Wind Watch online regarding Fulton, Miami, and Cass counties being interested in having a windfarm. I would like to pass along some findings of over 1,000 hours of research regarding this situation.

Wind Turbine Syndrome: The Impact of Wind Farms on Suicide

Turbine_zou201710_thumb This new report examines how locations where industrial wind turbines were erected near residences experienced measurable upticks in suicide. The researcher identifies three indirect tests of the role of low-frequency noise exposure including those most vulnerable to the noise, prevailing wind direction and potental of greater noise impacts, and turbine noise resulting in sleep deficiency. The abstract and conclusion of the paper are provided below. The full report can be accessed by clicking the links on this page.

Scituate Wind turbine to be tested again

David Dardi, who lives near the turbine and who had been keeping track of the turbine noise, said the turbine continued to “disrupt the sleep and adversely impact the lives and health of both my neighbors and myself.” ...Selectman Karen Canfield said she would support to curtail the use of the turbine from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. in the summer.

Green energy hypocrisy seen in Berkshires

If the power being generated causes health impacts; is that trade-off worth reducing your collective carbon footprint? Is it better to cause huge health issues to some folks so others can smugly say their power is "green"? And why is hurting folks with windmills to power your Tesla and Wi-fi OK, but cutting a thousand trees down in a state forest along an existing right of way is not OK?
