China's Sinovel convicted in U.S. of trade-secret theft

Chinese wind turbine maker Sinovel Wind Group Co was convicted on Wednesday of U.S. charges that it stole trade secrets from AMSC, causing the Massachusetts-based company to lose more than $800 million. A federal jury in Madison, Wisconsin, found Sinovel, once AMSC’s largest customer, guilty on all charges it faced, including conspiracy, trade-secret theft and wire fraud, the U.S. Justice Department said.

OAG starts wind farm 'collusion' inquiry; Ex-officials face 'conflict of interest' investigation

On Jan 31, the Nakhon Ratchasima Administrative Court ruled the Chaiyaphum land reform committee's decision to lease the land to Thep Sathit Wind Farm Co was unlawful and ordered it revoked. According to the court, the land lease for the company breached the agricultural land reform law which requires that use of Sor Por Kor land for activities other than agriculture can be done only if the activities are in the interests of farmers.

Windmill firms told to remove towers

Panchayat secretary Nithin Kailas told The Hindu that all the windmill towers had been installed without permission from the local body. No tax was paid to the government since they were set up. As per rules, each wind power generating unit had to pay Rs.70,000 as annual tax. As each unit occupied 120 sq m, they would have to pay land tax too.

Vestas takes legal action in India over Nørremark deal

Vestas has filed lawsuits against the two Indian companies embroiled in the Danish company's row with former CFO Henrik Nørremark. Vestas has filed the lawsuits in New Delhi's high court against RRB Energy and ECO RRB for the return of money handed over by Norremark, in deals that were not sanctioned by the Danish company's board.
