Turbine opponents are fighting fraud on American public

When a person purposely spreads false information about others with the intent to defame them, it’s called “slander.” The Bible instructs us that slander is a sin.

Susan Campbell’s August 24, 2016 Orleans Hub letter, which accused Save Ontario Shores “members” and myself of being on Fossil Fuel Corporation’s payrolls, was a pathetic attempt to slander all of us.

First of all, while I do support Save Ontario Shores’ (S.O.S.) mission to stop Apex from industrializing our beautiful rural area for the absolute scam of industrial wind, I am NOT a “member” of S.O.S. I was born and raised in Western New York, and my family has been in business in the region for generations.

As an avid environmentalist with a degree in Health Science, I was appalled when I learned of the plans to cover our beautiful countryside with these giant, bird-slaughtering LEMONS over a dozen years ago now. Thus, I began independently researching and reporting on the industrial wind issue in an effort to alert people that New York State taxpayers and ratepayers are being ripped off for an absolute scam. I have continued to do so to this day.

Contrary to Campbell’s bogus claims, I am NOT on anyone’s payroll.  In fact, my husband and I have spent more of OUR own money over the years than we can remember fighting the wind scam – on everything from trips to Albany and Washington, to printing off handouts, buying educational materials, running full-page advertisements, and setting up our grassroots’ organizations blog – citizenpoweralliance.org. The only thing Campbell got right was that I did attend a meeting in Washington DC in 2012, along with a number of other grassroots’ groups members from states across the nation, who are also battling the industrial wind scourge that’s blighting American countrysides today.

The intent of the meeting was to share ideas on how to better fight the bottomless money pockets of the Big Wind propaganda machine. I paid my own way, as did every attendee at the meeting.

It may be hard to understand for those who don’t mind throwing their neighbors under the bus just so they can enrich themselves via the biggest scam to ever come down the pike, but there are those of us who are willing to spend our own time and money working to protect the health, safety and welfare of our fellow citizens, children and grandchildren, and our environment. We do exist.

The absolute irony of Ms. Campbell’s slanderous attacks on those who are standing in the way of her self-serving plans however, is that it is the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) that IS representing Fossil Fuel interests – not us. AWEA’s Board of Directors (click here) represents many Big Energy conglomerates invested in both fossil fuels and wind (ie: GE, Siemens, FPL/NextEra, E.On, Invenergy, etc).

Wind proponents, like Ms. Campbell, fail to understand that the diffuse energy of wind provides virtually no firm capacity (specified amounts of power on demand), and therefore, can not supply modern, reliable, dispatchable baseload power, nor replace our conventional generations sources that do.

To the contrary, wind is dependent on fossil fuels (typically natural gas) to accommodate its’ volatile, skittering flux on the grid.  More wind = more gas = redundant generation = twice the cost for ratepayers and twice the profits for Big Energy.

Even well-known climate change activist, James Hansen, said, “Suggesting that renewables will let us phase rapidly off fossil fuels in the United States, China, India, or the world as a whole is almost the equivalent of believing in the Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy.”

Hats off to Save Ontario Shores, and all of those citizens in Somerset, Yates, and across New York State and the country, who are speaking out against the biggest environmental scam and consumer FRAUD to ever be perpetrated on humankind – the industrial wind scam. I applaud you!   As Margaret Mead said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
