A controversial wind farm project in Mineral County goes before the state Public Service Commission starting Monday. The PSC will hear evidence from Pinnacle Wind Force, the group hoping to build 23 wind turbines on top of Green Mountain near Mt. Storm.

The $120-million proposed project would generate about 72 megawatts of electricity. That's enough power to 21,000 homes a year.

Pinnacle Wind Force held their own public hearings in Mineral County earlier this year to get public input and try and answer questions about what the project would mean for the community. Company executives say so far they're pleased with the response. They've received the blessing of both the labor unions and town council.

The PSC will have the final say on whether to approve the necessary permits for the project. The hearing is expected to last most of the week and is being held at the PSC offices in Charleston.
