Mabey Bridge's wind turbine tower plant in Chepstow to close as company says no viable offer received

In July of this year it said that the site, originally opened in 2011, would close with the loss of up to 150 jobs after the failure of exhaustive efforts to find a buyer. This morning it was reported that Simec, which bought Uskmouth power station last year, had made an offer to buy the Mabey Bridge plant offer of £8.5m, considerably below Mabey Bridge's valuation of £11.5m.

Trump takes wind farm fight to Supreme Court

Speaking after he lost his case at the Court of Session, Mr Trump, who also owns Trump Turnberry golf course in Ayrshire, said it was "impossible to have a fair hearing challenging wind farm applications in Scotland". He has also criticised former First Minister Alex Salmond, accusing him of abusing his power and "hurting the people of Scotland" over his support for wind farms.

Chislet windfarm plan suspended by power firm RES Ltd

The company hoped to plant 11 turbines as high as 150 metres on marshland near Chislet and Marshside, near Canterbury. But this week RES appeared to backtrack, conceding it had suspended its proposals. It refuses to comment on whether public opposition has played a part.

Energy firm withdraws wind farm application

An energy giant has u-turned on its intention to build a new wind farm near Driffield following the Government’s decision to scrap the onshore wind subsidy scheme. The application, submitted to the East Riding of Yorkshire Council by EDF Energy Renewables, was for a proposed 10-turbine High Wood wind farm to be built on agricultural land between Tibthorpe, North Dalton and Bainton.

Councillors reject windfarm met mast plans above Loch Ness

Council leader Margaret Davidson led calls to reject the plans, raising concern about its “inappropriate height and scale”, adding that it would be “significantly detrimental to the landscape”. The mast is linked to an application to build 12 wind turbines, each 426ft high, to make up the Aberarder windfarm near Croachy.
