Proposals submitted for giant wind farm off Isle of Man

Initial plans have been submitted for a huge wind farm with up to 440 turbines between Anglesey and the Isle of Man. A joint venture between Centrica and a Danish energy company could see the country's largest wind farm erected in the Irish Sea. It would feature between 147 and 440 wind turbines, and generate up to 2.2 gigawatts.

Arena is suspected of having had a wind farm built on behalf of the clan through shell companies based in Germany, San Marino and Switzerland. The wind farm has 48 generators and is considered one of the biggest in Europe in surface area and output, investigators said in a statement.

Carlton Colville turbine plan set for refusal

In a planning report to be presented at Tuesday night's meeting, council planning officers say the plan should be rejected as it provides "insufficient information on visual impact and impact on wildlife" in the submission. There are also concerns over the lack of information about noise and ‘shadow flicker' from the proposed turbine.

Milton Keynes Council faces legal fees threat over wind turbine ruling

Milton Keynes is one of the first councils in the country to impose a ban on massive turbines being built less than 1.2 kilometres away from housing. RWE bosses, who want to put 17 wind turbines on two different local sites, claim the ban is unlawful and contrary to the Government's national policy to produce green energy whenever possible.

Scottish Power, which has lodged plans to extend the Harestanes development with a further 19 turbines, said it was close to finalising a buy-out deal with the Tharpaland monks. RWE AG, Germany's second-biggest utility, is seeking compensation from the federal government as its offshore wind farm project faces "further massive delays," Der Spiegel reported on Sunday, citing the company's new CEO. Efforts to link RWE's so-called Nordsee Ost wind farm in northwestern Germany to the main electricity network keep running behind schedule.

Vestas ends plans for UK offshore wind plant in Sheerness

With its own deployment plans slowing, Vestas is likely to have been unwilling to continue paying to retain first call on the facility for an extended period. It received local planning approval for the proposed plant in May this year. ...The company has always said that a final decision on the factory would be dependent on receiving firm and unconditional orders for its turbine.
