All defendants but two dismissed from wind turbine lawsuit

Plaintiffs attorney Chad Hopper said he requested the rest of the residents named in the case be dismissed because he discovered they did not have contracts with Nations Energy Solutions, the company exploring the possibility of building the wind turbine farm. Terra Gen, the other company named in the lawsuit, and Nations are the last two defendants in the case.

Cherokee residents file suit to block wind farm

Cherokee County residents have filed a lawsuit to block the proposed wind farm on Lookout Mountain, according to official court documents. This is the second suit filed against the developers, Pioneer Green Energy. Etowah County property owners who live near the proposed sites filed a similar lawsuit Aug. 1.

Property owners file suit over planned wind project

The suit asks for a court order that would authorize the County Commission to regulate the permitting, construction, placement and operation of wind turbines, wind mills, wind farms and any other wind-generated energy production facility or equipment operated in the unincorporated areas of Etowah County. It asks that the County Commission establish standards, specifications, criteria and conditions on the operations, and make a determination about appropriate sites where wind turbines can be located.
