Politicians told to unite over wind farms

Politicians of all parties across Mid Wales are being urged to get together to sort out the best way to channel rising public anger at the spread of wind farms in the region.

Campaigners against proposed increases in the number of turbines say that more and more people are expressing their concern.

Many Montgomeryshire residents have been voicing their fears that a huge increase could irrevocably damage economic development potential through tourism in the county.
Now anti-wind farm groups in Mid and West Wales are backing a cross-party truce on wind farms in the New Year.
A spokesman for one Welshpool-based group said: “We are inviting leading politicians to attend a planning meeting early in the New Year to work out how strong public anger and discontent on this issue can be safely expressed through democratic channels.”
The date of the meeting has yet to be announced.
