STATE OF MAINE
PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION
Docket No. 2022-00100
March 28, 2025
NEW ENGLAND AQUA VENTUS, LLC
Request for Approval of Long-Term Contract
Pertaining to New England Aqua Ventus, LLC
PROCEDURAL ORDER SUSPENDING NEGOTIATIONS
As anticipated in the Procedural Order issued on December 19, 2024, Pine Tree Offshore Wind, LLC (PTOW), the Governor’s Energy Office, the Office of the Public Advocate, Central Maine Power Company, and Versant Power (collectively the Negotiating Parties), with the participation of Commission Staff, have engaged in negotiating a proposed contract supporting the construction of an offshore wind research array in the Gulf of Maine (Contract) to present to the Commission for review.
In the course of those discussions, PTOW has requested that the negotiation of the Contract be paused due to recent shifts in the energy landscape that have in particular caused uncertainty in the offshore wind industry.
Finding that good cause exists, and because the other Negotiating Parties have indicated that they do not object to pausing negotiations as requested by PTOW, the Presiding Officers hereby APPROVE the request of PTOW. Accordingly, the negotiations in this proceeding are temporarily suspended until such time as PTOW files a request to resume.
Dated at Hallowell, Maine this 28th day of March 2025.
