FOREST CITY: Officials from Florida Power and Light explained details about a proposed string of heavy electric wires that would cross the area. The transmission line would carry power from a proposed wind farm near Crystal Lake to a power station south of Manly.

Two paths were discussed. One would travel south of Forest City in Winnebago and Hancock Counties. Currently, power poles already exist in the ditches of 46 of the 48 miles of that route. The other proposal would place the lines mainly along Highway 9 in Winnebago and Worth Counties. Many citizens at the meeting objected to the Highway 9 route because of its proximity to Pilot Knob State Park.
