The Western Plains Landscape Guardians group has accused the state Member for Ripon, Joe Helper, of not listening to people's concerns about wind farms. The group put an advertisement in a Maryborough newspaper, saying Mr Helper spends too much time outside his electorate.

Spokeswoman Cassie Franzose says Mr Helper refuses to talk to the group.

"He has refused to sit down and talk with the Western Plains Landscape Guardians," she said.

"He's been invited many times over the past three years and he has never once taken us up on that invitation and he has quite publicly denigrated and totally denied that there's any impact on local communities."

"I think it shows the bereftness of their argument, that they're playing the man not the issue," he said.

"I think we can all have a valuable discussion about the issues involved but to turn it into a personalised attack I think is disappointing and must be disappointing to those that really would prefer to have a discussion about the issues involved."
