Franklin Township supervisors adopt wind turbine ordinance

Supervisors adopted an ordinance that permits wind turbines as an exception and also adopted an ordinance that authorizes the tax collector to charge a fee for wage attachments when she collects delinquent per capita and occupational taxes. The wind turbine ordinance regulates the minimum height of the lowest position of the wind rotor at 25 feet above the ground, plus requires redundant braking systems and that wind mills must be at least 110 percent times the turbine height away from a structure or a neighboring property line.

Supervisors adopted an ordinance that permits wind turbines as an exception and also adopted an ordinance that authorizes the tax collector to charge a fee for wage attachments when she collects delinquent per capita and occupational taxes.

The wind turbine ordinance regulates the minimum height of the lowest position of the wind rotor at 25 feet above the ground, plus requires redundant braking systems and that wind mills must be at least 110 percent times the turbine height away from a structure or a neighboring property line.

The second ordinance adopted gives the tax collector the authority to charge a $10 fee for attaching wages to each of a delinquent's taxpayer's employers to collect delinquent per capita and occupational taxes for the township. The ordinance also allows for the fee to change from time to time by resolution of the board of supervisors.

The board also approved the sale of a trailer at 2215 Indian Hill Road, Franklin Township, which is in the repository for unsold properties to be sold at bid price of $612.97.

The board voted to enter into an agreement with Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21 to participate in a work-based learning program.

Secretary Sandra Gaumer reported that there will be a change in garbage collection for the July 4 holiday. The Friday, July 4 pickup will be made on Thursday, July 3.

The board reviewed the Paul Heere planning modules and approved waiver requests. The board also accepted the time extension request of Richard and Julia Bauer for their subdivision plans.
