Wind farm would destroy view, not to mention property values

From what we have been able to ascertain, many residential properties in the Victor Valley will be adversely affected by the Granite Mountain Wind Energy Project. Residents of Apple Valley, Lucerne Valley, and perhaps even some from Hesperia need to pay attention to what the Bureau of Land Management and Granite Wind LLC is building approximately six miles east of the Apple Valley town limits in our Granite Mountains (on a combination of BLM and privately owned land). ...we believe this area is asked to carry too much of the burden for the creation of alternative energy sources. We believe that the creation of this wind farm will be our "third strike" and that will cause a significant negative impact on the value of our property.

On its face, it doesn't seem to be so bad - until you look out one of your windows or go stand in you yard. Remember that these 415-foot windmills are going to be placed to best capture the wind and will be sticking above the top of the mountain. What a view that will be.
We retired to the remote Sycamore Rocks area in northeastern Apple Valley for several reasons - specifically including its wide open, expansive views. Before we purchased, we looked long and hard at what might be built around us that would affect us - never dreaming those views would be corrupted by a wind mill farm with 415-foot wind machines just a few miles away from us.
As residents of the Sycamore Rocks area, we have already been subjected to the City's creation of the industrial area in the northern portion of the town, as well as a proposed freeway that will most likely cut our area completely off not only from the rest of the Town, but the remainder of the Victor Valley. Coupled with today's sinking property values, we believe this area is asked to carry too much of the burden for the creation of alternative energy sources. We believe that the creation of this wind farm will be our "third strike" and that will cause a significant negative impact on the value of our property.

But, please hurry, they are asking that all comments be made or mailed by March 31, 2008.
More importantly, affected residents need to write to all their elected officials - from their local city to our state senators - and let them know just how bad this will be for their constituents and the pristine area we all love.
