After Investigation, L&I Fines Three Companies for Wind Farm Incident That Killed Chehalis Man

In the months since Stringer’s death, neither RES-Americas, the head construction company tasked with contracting out the job, nor Southern Power, which owns a majority stake in the company, have commented on the incident. There’s also been no comment from either company on the state’s investigation. The 38-turbine Skookumchuck Wind Project, originally set to begin operating in December 2019, has undergone multiple setbacks and has yet to be substantially completed.

Chehalis man who died in trench collapse was trying to rescue coworker

The Olympian reported this week that the state Department of Labor and Industries is investigating the incident. L&I already has three open investigations with three businesses that have ties to the project: Aerotek Inc., RES America Construction Inc. and Southern Power. A fourth investigation also could be opened with an RES America subsidiary, said L&I spokesman Frank Ameduri.

Worker injured by fall inside wind turbine

Beaver Creek Phase II, now under construction across Greene County near the town of Dana, IA is a MidAmerican project. It is slated to host 85 Vestas V110-2.0 turbines for a total nameplate capacity of 170 megawatts. The project started construction in May and is expected to be operational in December of 2018.

TPI Composites hires George W. Bush administration official to help fight OSHA citations

The investigation found hundreds of cases of injuries resulting from epoxy resin used to fabricate wind blades. Exposure to the chemicals caused some workers to develop skin sensitization, essentially an allergy developed over time. Some workers say that after they reported the injuries, they were let go. Former employees at TPI in Newton have filed a lawsuit against the wind turbine manufacturer.

Pilot Killed While Spraying Crops In Southwest Minnesota

After the plane struck the wire, the cable wrapped around power lines, prompting Xcel to temporarily shut off power to the wind turbines.  While crews repair the damage, federal investigators will work to piece together what led up to the crash that claimed the life of a veteran pilot, once honored by the FAA for his safe flying record.
