Wind project would block private runway, end man’s lifelong hobby

The Fishers say Apex Clean Energy’s plan is blowing up a storm that would block his airstrip with 500- to 600-foot-tall wind turbines near the north and south ends of his property, by leasing adjacent pastureland from other landowners. The turbines would eliminate his ability to use his airstrip. Fisher said he doesn’t believe it is fair that Apex can deprive him of the ability to enjoy his land.

Holland wind turbine takes a step forward, but path ahead still uncertain

The state Public Utility Commission issued an order this week reversing a May decision to hold off on reviewing site-specific criteria for the project until the body determined how the electricity it generates would impact the already overburdened northern tier of the state’s electrical grid, called the SHEI. The new order means the PUC can now schedule project hearings that had previously been delayed.

Sea of green at Farmersville wind turbine public hearing

Farmersville residents packed the Farmersville Fire Hall Thursday night for a public hearing on a proposed new local law on wind turbines to accommodate the Alle-Catt Wind Farm spanning five towns in three counties. Most speakers were either opposed to the wind turbines, or asked for stricter limits on setbacks and noise.

What’s next for Falmouth turbines?

Weston and Sampson, engineers hired by the town to look at logistics and costs related to dismantlement and removal of the turbines, are scheduled to present their findings to selectmen Monday at 8 p.m., during the board’s regular meeting in Town Hall.
