Erris windfarms are refused by Council

Two windfarms planned for Geesala and Bangor Erris lie in the hands of An Bord Pleanála, writes Marian Harrison. Atlanticwest Energy Ltd, the applicant in both cases, has brought the planning proposals before The Planning Appeal’s Board after Mayo County Council refused permission for both developments. The wind farm for Dooyork, Geesala would consist of 24 turbines, while 32 turbines are proposed for the farm at Knocklettercuss, Bangor Erris. Both cases were lodged with the Board on December 5.

Council votes down wind farm scheme

devon.editorial@archant.co.uk 30 November 2005 NORTH Devon District Councillors have overwhelmingly rejected the plan to built a wind farm at Fullabrook Down. They agreed with their officers and decided to indicate refusal to the Government which will have the final say. The motion was proposed by Cllr Rodney Cann, who said the application was a threat to the character and appearance of North Devon.  Exhibitions for an against the proposed Batsworthy Cross wind farm near South Molton were held last week. Npower spokesman Patrick Spink said of 4,700 feedback cards sent to residents, 320 had been returned, 57 per cent in favour of his firm's scheme and 36 per cent against.
