TIFFIN, OH — sPower has submitted a notice of withdrawal of application for its Seneca Wind project this week, according to a new report.
The proposed wind farm would consist of up to 77 of the tallest commercial-scale wind turbines in this part of the country. The company, based in Utah, wants to install the machines in Seneca County’s Scipio, Reed, Venice, Eden, and Bloom townships east of Tiffin.

With this notice, Seneca Wind also provides notice that it, or any of its affiliates, reserves the right to file at a later time another application for certificate of environmental compatibility and public need with the OPSB.
Seneca Anti-Wind Union leader Chris Aichholz released a statement regarding sPower’s notice.
“This is a story that will go down in history as one of the greatest efforts of friends, family, neighbors, and a community coming together against all odds to turn away a giant corporation from destroying our area and ruining it forever,” Aichholz said. “Thank you to everyone who helped it this monumental group effort. Time to celebrate but let’s not forget our friends in the Republic Wind and Emerson Creek Wind projects as their fights are still going on.”
