The delegated group will deposit its auditory report to the MRC council of mayors, which also includes Chateauguay, Mercier and Léry.

The Roussillon MRC intends to establish the probable arrival of windmills on its territory. “It’s a very recent dossier,” Dansereau explained. “Two years ago, we would never have thought that this type of industry could come and install itself here.”

The MRC is currently working at drawing up a bylaw. “We don’t want this to be done in an chaotic fashion,” said Dansereau. From now until the bylaw is adopted, the MRC could envision the use of a moratorium, if need be.

The MRC should be depositing its recommendations within the next six months, following which they will be perused by elected officials and the general public. The bylaw will then be submitted to Quebec for approval.

“We are also conducting an economic study on the subject,” Dansereau noted.(Tr: D.R.)
