That property is in the townships of Adams, Reed, Scipio and Thompson in Seneca County and York Township in Sandusky County, according to a pre-application filed with the Ohio Power Siting Board.

Each of the 83 turbines would generate 2.4 MW of power. The corporation also projects it would construct access roads, electrical collection system, staging areas, operation and maintenance facilities plus substations, according to the filing.

Republic plans to file separate applications for 8-mile transmission line and two substations associated with the wind farm. The company held a public information meeting on Nov. 27, 2012 in Green Springs.

The siting board approves such applications, according to the OPS web site.

Kay Reiter, executive director of the Sandusky County Economic Development Corporation said Tuesday that the first public hearing on the project involving Nordex USA was held in Green Springs last November, and now company officials are working on state and federal applications.

She said the proposed wind turbines would cover an area of 10-by-6 miles between the two counties. The power generated would provide enough power for 55,000 homes, she added.

The project could break ground by next year, she added on Tuesday.
