The commission voted 2-1 in September to approve a permit for Highland Wind Farm, a $250 million project that would result in as many as 44 wind turbines generating up to 102.5 megawatts. Attorneys for the town of Forest have filed a motion asking the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin to reconsider the approval of a proposed wind farm in the town.

The commission voted 2-1 in September to approve a permit for Highland Wind Farm, a $250 million project that would result in as many as 44 wind turbines generating up to 102.5 megawatts. The developer had reapplied for the permit after the commission voted 2-1 in February to deny an application over questions regarding noise.

The commission has 30 days from the town's Thursday filing to make a decision on rehearing the matter. If the commission does not take action in that time, the request will be considered denied. Wind farm opposition will then have 30 days to file a case in district court.

A group formed in opposition to the project in 2010, and the issue led to recalls for all three members of the town board. Those opposed to the project have expressed concerns that low-frequency noise generated by the turbines could impact residents' health.
