Voters supported a proposal to build a wind farm in town. But they voted against an ordinance banning fireworks within the town limits.

Question One was a nonbinding vote. Eolian Renewable Energy of Portsmouth, N.H., requested the straw vote to gauge community support prior to proceeding with constructing a wind farm.

The firm plans to construct a three-turbine, nine-megawatt wind farm in North Orland.

Residents supported the proposal by a vote of 439-258.

The fireworks ban failed by a 380-315 vote.
