Wind farm public comment period up

HELENA Today is the deadline for the public to comment on plans to establish a wind farm about 30 miles north of Glasgow.

Wind Hunter L-L-C wants to build and operate the facility and build a power transmission line that would connect to an existing transmission system.

The facility would be built in phases, eventually consisting of 334 turbines generating about 500 megawatts of electricity.

Each turbine would stand about 390 feet and the farm would encompass more than 20-thousand acres. The 34-mile transmission line would be supported by wood structures 65 to 75 feet high.

Both the turbines and the transmission line would involve use of private, federal and state land.
