"Most of the power generated will be used on site," Ryan said. "It'll be used mostly for the electric needs of that utility site."
Bayonne also stands to benefit from the addition, saving in electricity costs and also earning Renewable Energy Credits with PSE&G, city officials have said.
The turbine will produce 3.3 giga-watt hours of electricity a year enough to power up to 600 single-family homes per year.
Construction on the project, which has faced several construction hurdles in the past, is slated to begin next week, with the turbine expected to become fully operational in March, Ryan said.
