HELENA The deadline for public comment, on plans to establish a wind farm north of Glasgow, is being extended by two weeks.
July 17th is the new deadline for state and federal agencies to receive comment on the plans of Wind Hunter L-L-C. The company wants to build and operate a wind farm about 28 miles north of Glasgow, and build a power transmission line that would connect to an existing transmission system.
Wind Hunter anticipates the eventual installation of 334 turbines, each rising about 390 feet, that would generate a total of 500 megawatts of electricity. The project would be on 20-thousand acres. The 34-mile transmission line would be supported by wood structures 65-to-75 feet high and 700-to-800 feet apart.
Both the turbines and the transmission line would involve use of private, federal and state land.
