Sound engineer to answer questions on proposed wind farm

EASTBROOK - An acoustical engineer will be on hand at 6:30 p.m. May 19 at the Community Center to answer questions about the sound levels that likely would be generated by a proposed wind farm in Eastbrook.

Peter Guldberg of Tech Environmental Inc. in Waltham, Mass., will appear before the Comprehensive Plan Committee to offer his best estimation of the decibel levels generated by various turbines.

The wind farm is proposed by First Wind of Boston and would likely be located in Eastbrook and/or in Township 16 on Little Bull Hill, Bull Hill and Heifer Hill.

First Wind has not yet submitted a formal plan, but the committee is seeking information to prepare a draft ordinance in preparation for a full blown proposal.

"The specifics of the wind turbine project have not yet been provided to the town by First Wind," Guldberg, who was retained by the town, said Tuesday.

He said, however, that First Wind uses "tried and true" models for its wind farms "so the data is available."
