Windmill projects wasteful

WE Energies-Domtar Wausau biomass project: Cost $255 million, 50 megawatt, 40,000 homes powered continuously, on site industrial footprint, 400 temporary construction jobs, 150 permanent jobs.

Ledge Wind project: 100 wind turbines, cost $400 million, 150 megawatt nameplate, 40,000 homes powered, 72 square mile footprint, 850 homes affected (Shadow Flicker Study-Ledge Wind Project), 300 temporary construction jobs, 15 permanent jobs.

Wind has additional costs. The 1000-foot proximity of two windmills will drop my home's value 40 percent (2009 Wind Turbine Impact Study). If an act of God caused value reductions of 25 percent to 40 percent upon 850 homes, it would necessitate the governor calling for disaster relief.

Many unwilling people are put in an industrial zone where their health and property value can and will be negatively affected.
