Against these eyesores

However, as we know, the vandals have struck and already we can only look at the fells through those obscene abominations called "wind farms."

DO WE have to imagine what it would be like to live in such an idyllic place as an area of outstanding natural beauty or as a national park? No, we actually do live between the two!

To the north the great panorama of the Solway Firth and Scotland and to the south the Lakeland fells.

Visitors say that if they lived here they would never go on holiday. We should be proud that we live in the most beautiful county in England.

Now we learn that a further 21 turbines are planned in the Aspatria area.

To add insult to injury they are being built as near to habitations as they can possibly get.

This is an absolute disgrace and the landowners are rubbing their hands in glee as they rake it in.

It would be better if they fouled their own doorsteps. There are plenty of wide open spaces with no towns or villages to vandalise.

Now here is an anomaly. If you want to build a new house or renovate and add to an old one, it can take months of negotiations with councils who, in the end, can veto the whole thing.

All the councils in this area are fully against these eyesores but now they have no power at all.
