Neither Ms. Perry nor other wind energy advocates have successfully challenged the substance of my papers. Instead, they resort to ad hominem attacks.

This letter is to point out that Ms. Barbara Perry's ad hominem attack, published in your January 12, 2006, edition under the heading, "Anti-Wind: Consider the Source(s) includes false claims. I would appreciate your prompt publication of a correction and request that you communicate to Ms. Perry my request for a retraction and apology.

Ms. Perry is quite correct in stating that I have written papers critical of renewable energy technologies.

Specifically, I have written well documented analyses that explain that the wind industry and other wind advocates have (1) greatly overstated the energy and environmental benefits of wind energy and understated the economic costs and the adverse environmental, ecological, scenic and property value …

Specifically, I have written well documented analyses that explain that the wind industry and other wind advocates have (1) greatly overstated the energy and environmental benefits of wind energy and understated the economic costs and the adverse environmental, ecological, scenic and property value impacts, and (2) misled the public, media and government officials.

Neither Ms. Perry nor other wind energy advocates have successfully challenged the substance of my papers. Instead, they resort to ad hominem attacks.

Ms. Perry's assertion that I am affiliated with the coal industry is
FALSE.

I do not know Ms. Perry and do not know her relationship to the wind industry. If you know, I hope you will provide that information.

I do not have a web site, but I make my papers available without charge to anyone who wishes them, so many are readily available on the Internet (e.g., at www.windwatch.org and www.tsaugust.org. I invite your review and substantive comment. I especially recommend:

1. "Big Money Discovers the Huge Tax Breaks and Subsidies for Wind Energy while Taxpayers and Electric Customers Pick up the Tab."

2. "Misplaced State Government Faith in Wind Energy."

3. "Facing up to the True Costs and Benefits of Wind Energy."

4. "Errors and Excesses in NREL's JEDI-WIM Model that Provides
Estimates of the State or Local Economic Impact of "Wind Farms."
