Gerry Meyer lives within Invenergy's Forward Wind facility sited in Fond du Lac County Wisconsin. Since the turbines went online in March 2008, Mr. Meyer and his family have suffered from the noise and shadow flicker resulting from the operating project.
We've lived in our rural Wisconsin home near the Town of Byron in Fond du Lac County for 40 years.
In 2007 industrial scale wind turbines started going up around our house. There are 86 turbines in the Invenergy Forward Energy project.
The turbines went online in March of 2008
Turbine # 4 is 1560 feet behind our home.
Turbine # 3a is about 500 feet mostly east and a little north of turbine #4.
Turbine #6 is about ¾ of mile to the northwest of our home. Across the road, mostly south and slightly west is turbine #73 at a distance of 2480 feet.
Down the hill to the west is turbine #74a which is about ¾ of a mile away.
Each of the turbines is 40 stories tall. We can hear all five of these turbines at various times from inside our house.
The website at the below link presents a diary of what has happened to our lives since the turbines started spinning. Below is a sample of the dirary from January 12, 2012.
January 12, 2012
5:20 AM, Wind N. I was woke up 3 or 4 times last night. I did not look at the clock tying to get back to sleep as soon as possible. Outside turbine 4 is making a loud whooshing sound. I mean loud, very loud. Like ripping the sky apart. It is similar to if you tore a piece of fabric, but on a much larger scale both in size and sound. So imagine that with turbine 3a about 5/8 mile away sounding like a jet flying over.
7:40 AM, Wind N, 18.2 rpms. Now turbine 4 sounds like a jet and turbine 6 is similar. In the housie I hear turbine 6 pounding even over the words on TV
8:15 AM. I hear turbines thumping and pounding from the room and front room. I compare the sound to listening to your heart in a stethoscope or putting a pair of your hunting boots in the dryer then trying to sleep next to it.
2:10 PM, Wind NNW, 18.2 rpms. Loud jet sound from turbine 4 and pounding from turbine 6. For this wind direction this much volume is unusual.
4:55 PM. Wind NNW, 18.2 rpms. Same sound as 2:10 report. It is windy (14mph), yet I can easily hear the turbines. I can hear the turbines in all rooms of the house.
9:25 PM 15 mph. Loud jet sound turbines 4 and 6. From the computer room I hear turbine 73 pounding.
