BPA, which transmits and sells wholesale electricity in eight western states (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada, and California) barely registered any wind power generation in the week beginning Jan 20, 2014 to January 27, 2014. Look for the green line along the bottom of the graph. BPA has 4,515 MWs of installed wind energy. BPA balances the ups and downs of wind energy primarily with hydropower generated at federal dams resulting in no net reduction of carbon emissions. For more information visit this site which tracks real-time and historic generation.
This personal turbine erected in Cape Vincent, New York was declared by the town as an illegal structure. The turbine still stands but not used until a local resident, an Osprey, move in.
DTE Energy found a part of a blade had fallen off one of its turbines located at the Thumb wind facility in Michigan. The Thumb wind facility went into commercial operation in December 2012. The project consists of 110-megawatt (MW) (69 1.6-megawatt GE wind turbines).
The Spring Valley Wind project towers over nearby vehicles. The project, located 30 miles east of Ely, Nevada, includes 66 Siemens 2.3 MW machines. The Spring Valley project went online August 8, 2012 and is the first in the State of Nevada.
The Whitley County Concerned Citizens group has scheduled an informative presentation and discussion session on wind energy development. Featured speakers include Dave and Stephanie Hulthen and Professor Roger A. McEowen. The presentation is scheduled for June 21, 2011 at 6pm at the Indian Springs Middle School in Columbian City, Indiana.
Lisa Linowes presenting in Colebrook, CT on March 12, 2011, to a "crowd of more than 100 on Saturday who listened in rapt attention as Executive Director Lisa Linowes of Industrial Wind Action detailed the costs, both environmental and financial, of wind turbines."
The image shows clouds forming in the wakes of the front row of wind turbines of the Horns Rev wind farm off the coast of Denmark. The downstream wind turbines lose 20% or 30% of their power, and sometimes even more, relative to the front row. The spacing of the turbines is 7 rotor diameters.
First Wind ordered and has taken delivery of these nacelles planned for the Stetson II wind farm project (17 turbines). This picture was taken only one month after First Wind submitted its permit application for the project to the State of Maine for approval. Apparently, First Wind is confident it will win approval.

This advertisement appeared on the front page of the Wall Street Journal. The message in the ad suggests that not all wind sites, and perhaps no sites, are good investments when evaluating the entire spectrum of energy options.
Cohocton, NY Wind Farm construction site accident.
This met tower was toppled following harsh winter weather atop Ice Mountain.
Technicians remove the blade assembly on Carleton College’s wind generator as the gearbox undergoes repair. The two-month process of fixing it involved finding a crane tall enough and heavy enough to remove the giant blade assembly from the top of the 230-foot tower. The crane was on site almost three weeks, at a cost of $5,000 a day. The wind turbine was erected in Sep 2004. http://chronicle.com/blogs/architecture/1178/fixing-a-wind-turbine-no-small-matter
This chart estimates January hourly capacity factor of the Bluewater offshore wind project proposed for Delaware. The chart suggests wide swings in wind generation throughout the month. Chart from http://www.delmarva.com/_res/documents/PaceReport%20.pdf
