Half an hour before midnight, a report of a wind turbine on fire was received at the West-Viru County. Falling pieces of burning turbine required traffic on the road nearby to be shut down throughout the night. Sparks ignited both sides of the road.

A wind turbine was destroyed by fire near Magdeburg in Germany. The fire was likely caused by hurricane-strength winds, which blew against the rotor blades resulting in the generator becoming overheated. Members of the fire department could not get close to the burning structure due to falling parts. The damage is estimated to be 1.2 million euros.
The blades of a wind turbine located at a vo-tech center in Oklahoma were thrown by a tornado that hit the area. One of the blades smashed into a daycare center a quarter-mile away. As a damaged wind turbine lays on the ground behind Western Reserve High School where it fell from its tower Sunday afternoon, the district's two other electricity-generating units sit idle while officials with the company that built them try to determine why this one collapsed.
