Leaks stall turbines, Gloucester's wind income

Solaya’s Shah said his company has crews on the ground working to repair the leaks keeping at least one of the city’s turbines from fulfilling its purpose. The city is also budgeted to take in  $78,075 in in-lieu-of tax payments from Equity this year, within a few dollars of its payments for the last three years. But the electricity revenues have continued to fall short of the annual $450,000 projected by then-Mayor Carolyn Kirk and Equity officials when the turbines were installed in December late 2012.

Enercon E-115 Turbine Failure

Enercon_e-115_-_1_thumb The citizens group, Gegenwind Borchen, shows on its website photos of fiberglass parts of shredded turbine blades scattered several hundred meters away. The fragments are from an Enercon E-115 turbine that experienced a catastrophic failure within days of the turbine being erected. The mayor of Borchen, Reiner Allerdissen, called for an immediate halt to construction at the facility until the cause of the failure is known. The turbine stands about 200 meters (656 feet) high.

Wind turbine blades falling off Addison’s water tower result in $1 million flop, crazy lawsuit

The turbines ran for three months before one blade fell to the ground 190 feet below. Then a second blade crashed through a nearby storage building's roof, falling into a conference room. No one was hurt. The city asked the builders to remove the contraption and rebuild it. That happened. Then another blade came loose.

Turbine in Ontario breaks in half

Chatham-kent-collapse_thumb The turbine that collapsed was a GE 1.5MW xle, placed in service in 2011 by US-based Invenergy as part of the 52-turbine (78 MW) Raleigh wind facility in Chatham-Kent in southwest Ontario. The project was soled to Terraform in 2015. No information has been released as to the cause of the failure.

German turbine collapse

Wind turbine in France collapses

France-1_thumb The failed turbine appears to be one of eight placed online in Bouin, France in June 2003. The Nordex N80/2500kw turbines are 2.5 MW each for a total project capacity of 20 MW. The project is owned by SIIF Energies France (EDF subsidiary for renewable energy projects) and REVe (Régie d’Eletricité de Vendée).
