Fire sparked by a wind turbine

The turbine that sparked the fire was part of the Juniper Canyon facility located in Klickitat County in Washington State. The project, which is owned and operated by Iberdrola Renewables (now Avangrid), was constructed in two phases during the period from 2010 to 2012. It consists of 128 turbines (63 in Phase 1; 65 in Phase 2) and has a total installed capacity of 251.2 MW.

Wind Power: Cutting the Spin (video newscast)

Duration: 4 minutes 23 seconds Clean Wisconsin takes that position because there are no "peer-reviewed" studies that link inaudible noise levels to human illness. "Their argument is a fallacy," countered Sen. Lasee. "Their argument just justifies their actions. Their argument just keeps them getting paid. And I think they're wrong-headed on this." Sen. Lasee is now pushing for more regulations on wind energy that could limit its future growth even more. "What I'd like to do is at the very least, follow the lead of Australia and have a mile and a quarter setback from anybody's property line," said Sen. Lasee.

ATI Colorado Lawsuit

The American Tradition Institute is suing the state of Colorado for its renewable energy mandate. Colorado voters approved a 10 percent renewable energy mandate in 2004. Since then the state legislature has increased the mandate two times to 30 percent by 2020. This first in a three-part series video explains the problems with wind energy in particular. Wind is "neither free nor clean." Rather than embrace gigantic "cuisinarts in the sky," real environments, such as those at ATI, eschew them. Duration: 2 minuyes 53 seconds

Wind Fall-Out

Friends of Lāna‘i (friendsoflanai.org) commissioned this video to help explain how a proposed 400 megawatt industrial wind power plant will impact the people and environment of the small Hawaiian island of Lāna‘i. The project could consume up to ¼ of the island and all the power would be sent to the island of O`ahu by an undersea cable that would run through the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary. According to one State official, it is estimated that this intermittent power source would supply just 10% of O'ahu island's electricity. Castle & Cooke, the Los Angeles-based developer of this proposed wind power plant, stands to earn over one hundred million dollars every year while Lāna‘i's electricity would continue to be provided by fossil fuel. 1 Offshore Natural Gas Platform = 59 Cape Wind Projects

The decades-old ban on oil and natural gas exploration on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) was lifted in 2008, following a public outcry over high gas prices. However, President Obama's recent OCS exploration announcement put most of those newly available offshore areas off-limits. The move will most likely lead to more imported oil, higher gas prices, and is a giant missed opportunity for new jobs. While offshore drilling has been largely avoided by the administration, there have been discussions of installing offshore wind turbines. So how do offshore natural gas and offshore wind production compare? This video analyzes the differences between developing the Manteo Prospect, a natural gas platform, with Cape Wind, a proposed wind farm off the coast of Massachusetts. Energy Clarity Wind

This video describes the role wind energy is likely to play during the foreseeable future. It establishes that, if all new wind turbines are used to accommodate growth, there won't be any wind turbines available to cut the use of natural gas, a key part of the Pickens Plan. The conclusion is based on the forecast of electricity demand in 2030 by the Department of Energy. Duration: 6 minutes 40 seconds
