Warped wind turbines

Iowa-wind-turbine-web-1100x825_thumb Wind-warped turbine sits still about a half mile north of E29 on Highway 65. One of the blades was bent like a rabbit ear due to storm-related winds that came through Central Iowa last week. It was the only one with this kind of damage in the pod of turbines.

Jenne criticizes Republican senators for not supporting bill limiting wind turbines near Drum — senators disagree

According to Ms. Jenne, she is standing alone against the onslaught of wind projects threatening Fort Drum. ...“This is going to be a difficult issue because the wind lobby has a lot of muscle,” she said. “I’m willing to stand up by myself and do what’s right ... but it’s difficult when the other house won’t even introduce the bill.”

Rep. Reineke flips on setbacks

“Based on my continued engagement with the constituents, I have come to the conclusion that no changes should be made to Ohio’s current wind turbine setbacks. Under current law, the setbacks can be reduced if ‘good neighbor’ waivers are reached with affected landowners in the project footprint. Property rights are key and landowners on both sides of this issue have valid arguments. In pursuit of a compromise, it is unfair for one set of landowners to completely win this debate, and property rights should never be subject to a vote.”
