Air Force concerns put wind farm's future up in the air

The U.S. Air Force determined 61 of the proposed 114 turbines would get in the way of military training flight paths could not be completed. The conclusion irked New Mexico State Land Office Commissioner Aubrey Dunn, who called the decision "military tyranny." Dunn was told just a few weeks ago that nearly half the turbines could not be built.

Falling ice from wind turbine worries family near proposed project

Days after several Freeborn County wind turbines had to be shut down after a chunk of ice fell off a blade and landed on a passing semi truck, a family whose home lies within feet of the proposed Freeborn Wind Farm project said they're concerned about something similar happening at their home. ..."I'm sorry but [...] there's no amount of money that's enough comfort for my kids being put in harm's way," he said.

Wind turbine opposition continues at meetings

The trend for Cass County Commissioners meetings lately continued Monday with a packed room and criticism voiced toward a proposed wind turbine project in the northern part of the county. Dave Redweik, Twelve Mile, told commissioners that a petition calling for half-mile setbacks from property lines for industrial wind turbines is now up to 1,554 names.

Wind turbine blades falling off Addison’s water tower result in $1 million flop, crazy lawsuit

The turbines ran for three months before one blade fell to the ground 190 feet below. Then a second blade crashed through a nearby storage building's roof, falling into a conference room. No one was hurt. The city asked the builders to remove the contraption and rebuild it. That happened. Then another blade came loose.

Deal Reached for Turbine-Damaged Roads

Underwood said that because of the time it took to reach this agreement, the repairs would not be made until the Spring of 2018, making the roads un-plowable. Washington Township and the Engineers Office will be closing Washington Township 85, and portions of 22, and 115 within the next few weeks.
