Cape Wind weather tower to come down

Cape Wind has applied for a permit to dismantle its nearly 200-foot meteorological tower on Horseshoe Shoal in Nantucket Sound, a spokesman for the Army Corps of Engineers confirmed last week. “The Corps is currently reviewing the permit application and anticipates a permit decision no later than mid-June 2018.”

Township recall petition language approved

The Delta County Election Commission has determined that recall petition language submissions related to two Fairbanks Township officials will be able to go forward.  ...The new language states that these officials “(voted) yes on a motion to grant Heritage Sustainable Energy township consent to place electrical power lines within the Delta County road right-of-way without requesting Heritage provide compensation to the township."

Missouri utility’s ambitious wind energy plan facing pushback

The state’s Office of Public Counsel and the staff of the Missouri Public Service Commission are skeptical. They don’t trust Empire’s estimates of the future price of wind on the wholesale market, and they maintain that the utility has structured the deal so that the tax-equity investor – as yet unnamed – will be paid off during the first 10 years, leaving only crumbs behind for ratepayers.

Unreliable wind is a poor energy source

It’s unfortunate that wind energy has ever risen in energy discussions, because it suffers a serious, fundamental and likely insoluble problem. This problem is sufficiently serious as to question whether wind energy should ever be considered to contribute meaningful electrical energy to New Hampshire.

Falmouth Selectmen Respond To Wind Turbine Removal Order

"There is no option available to the town to consider any relocation of Wind 1 within the town of Falmouth," Mr. Suso wrote. "There are multiple options available to the town with regard to the the possible relocation of Wind 1 to a new site, either within, or alternatively, outside of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts."
