Robert Rand has thirty years' experience in acoustics including industrial noise control, environmental sound, and architectural acoustics.  He has been a member of the Institute of Noise Control Engineering since 1993. Life with Dekalb Turbines

Dave and Stephanie Hulthen spoke on "Life with Dekalb Turbines". They are from DeKalb County, Illinois. They live in the middle of an industrial wind farm. There are thirteen industrial wind turbines located within one mile of their home, two within 1400 feet. Wind Turbine Noise in DeKalb County, IL

This is the noise from turbine #30/31 in a NextEra Energy Resources (FPL) industrial wind facility taken on 12/17/2010 ~ 8:45am. The full magnitude of the noise is hard to capture with a consumer JVC camcorder, but it's a small glimpse into what Dave and Stephanie Hulthen and their four children hear and experience continually. Voices of Vinalhaven, Maine Part 1 of 2

On December 19, WERU 89.9 FM radio conducted a lengthy interview with residents living near the Fox Island Wind Farm located in Vinalhaven, Maine, an island community about 12 miles off the coastline. The wind facility, consisting of 3 GE 1.5 MW wind turbines, was commissioned on November 17, 2009. This video (part 1 of 2) was compiled using excerpts of the interview. Those speaking are describing their experience of living with turbine noise. The images appearing in this video are not from Vinalhaven, however, they are actual photos of other locations in North America where towers were sited very close to homes.
