Wind turbine fire in the Fens

Fen_turbine_fire-cambsfirerescue_image4_thumb The incident involved one of 5 turbines at the Ransonmoor wind farm which is located in the Fens of Cambridgeshire. The project consists of 2 Senvion MM82 and 3 Gamesa G80 wind turbines for a total nameplate capacity is 10.1 MW. The Gamesa turbines were placed in sevrice in 2007; the Senvion turbines followed a year later in 2008. The damaged turbine was built by Gamesa.

Storm Barbara blows blades from wind turbine

Uk-blades-throw_thumb A dog walker watched in horror as Storm Barbara blew the blades from a wind turbine - and they headed towards him. ...TGC Renewables applied for the wind farm at Scar End in 2012 and was initially rejected. That decision was overturned later that year on appeal by the planning inspector.

Turbine parts fly off blades

Turbine-debris-1_thumb All 19 turbines at a windfarm in the Scottish Borders were shut down after part of a blade was found lying by the roadside. This fiberglass component from the blade was found along with other similar components. An investigation is underway but it is believed the components were torn from the turbine(s) under high wind conditions.

Wind turbine collapses in Northern Ireland

A 328-foot tall wind turbine worth more than £2 million has buckled and collapsed on a mountainside in Northern Ireland. Unconfirmed reports suggested the blades of the turbine had spun out of control - despite only light wind speeds - before the structure came crashing to the ground on Friday.
