Woodford Co. votes to up building permit fees

Large projects, like the proposed 80-turbine wind farm near Benson, will see the greatest impact. Navitas Energy will see fees increase from $2,000 per turbine to about $4,000, based on the height. The company will have to get special-use permits for each parcel of ground it will use in the project.

Wind turbines supported at meeting

PRINCETON - A wind developing company received only a few questions from Bureau County residents at a public hearing Thursday regarding construction of 57 wind turbines near the village of Ohio. The Bureau County Zoning Board of Appeals heard very few concerns and questions before unanimously approving conditional use permits and 18 variances for the turbines.

Wind-farm OK ruled illegal

BELVIDERE — A special meeting this week that set the stage for the county's first wind farm was improper, and anything decided in that meeting should be considered void, the Boone County state's attorney has ruled.
