Chislet windfarm plan suspended by power firm RES Ltd

The company hoped to plant 11 turbines as high as 150 metres on marshland near Chislet and Marshside, near Canterbury. But this week RES appeared to backtrack, conceding it had suspended its proposals. It refuses to comment on whether public opposition has played a part.

French farmer sues wind energy company for making his cows sick; Demands hefty compensation

Christiane Nansot, an agricultural expert, who endorsed the farmer’s grievance confirmed that the drop in milk production was caused by the 24 turbines installed by the company, next to the family farm in Le Boisle district, near Abbeville in  Northern France. “The geologist said that a geographical fault in the underlying rock could be leading to amplification in waves emanating from the turbines,” she  said.

Locals facing eviction after losing windfarm appeal

Edward ‘Ned’ Buckley had agreed to a single turbine being erected on adjacent land as part of an overall €30m development of 22 wind turbines by Kilkenny–based Ecopower Developments Ltd. However, he was shocked to discover a subsequent planning application sought provision for a 75m road across his land. ...Mr Buckley conceded that he had signed a document facilitating access but said he later withdrew consent before any decision had been made.

‘Game over’ for pylons -as National Grid cancel surveys

Campaigners say that National Grid’s controversial 33-mile proposed pylon route between Cefn Coch and Oswestry costing an estimated £300 million is now under threat after Energy Minister Andrea Leadsom confirmed that windfarms at Llanbadarn Fynydd, Llaithddu, Llanbrynmair and Carnedd Wen were being refused.

Two 14-year-old wind turbines to be junked

The two wind turbines operating in Uusikaupunki will be dismantled next week, energy company Propel Voima announced on Friday. The windmills produced electricity from 1999, but repairing them is not worth the investment due to funding concerns. ...The two 1.3 MW wind turbines produced some 4 million KWh worth of electricity a year (about 17% capacity factor)

Navitus Bay rejected

The UK government has halted the 970MW Navitus Bay project being developed off the coast of Dorset, southern England. The decision has been announced by the UK's Department of Energy and Climate Change (Decc) following a recommendation from the Planning Inspectorate that consent be refused.

Documented aircraft near-misses with wind turbines

Air_and_flight_safety_reports_windfarms_annex_thumb RAF pilots have reported a catalogue of near misses with wind farms in the United Kingdom. Pilots are making over 1,000 manual corrections to their charts every month to try and keep up with the changes. This document presents the reports completed by the pilots. The Light Aircraft Association (LAA) also warns there is a potential for a mid-air disaster.
