The "Ignatz" storm caused numerous problems in many regions. More than 60 incidents reported to the Aalen police headquarters - mostly from the Rems-Murr district.

Bask. The Ostalbkreis was largely spared from the storm on Thursday. The German Weather Service warns in a circle until 6 p.m. of heavy gusts of wind at speeds of up to 90 kilometers per hour. So far, however, there has not been a storm warning in the Ostalb district.

Nevertheless, the storm "Ignatz" was also evident in the region in the morning. In Nattheim in the Heidenheim district, for example, a wind turbine was destroyed by the gusts. As the Ulm police announced on request, the damage was reported around 11.30 a.m. "We then informed the operator and the building yard," said a spokeswoman. The building yard has cordoned off the danger zone and the operator is now taking care of maintenance.

The Aalen Police Headquarters can also record over 60 such incidents between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. These occurred predominantly in the Rems-Murr district, followed by the Schwäbisch Hall district and the Ostalb district. The operations involved fallen trees and fallen branches that blocked the lanes or damaged cars.

In Fellbach, four cars were damaged by fallen trees. Tiles or corrugated iron fell from roofs. In Waiblingen Bahnhofstrasse had to be closed at short notice due to a fire brigade operation because a sheet metal roof that had been detached from the storm had to be secured and dismantled. Property damage occurred to a motorcycle because it was knocked over by a gust of wind. The Gaildorf city center was without electricity, and traffic lights also failed.

In the three districts, trampolines, construction fences or traffic signs flew on lanes, blocked roads or scratched vehicles. There have been no reports of anyone being injured.

Impairment in long-distance rail traffic

Because of the storm, there are still delays and train cancellations as of 2 p.m. on the railway line between Karlsruhe and Stuttgart according to the Deutsche Bahn. A fallen tree also caused delays on the route between Aalen and Nuremberg on Thursday. Rail travelers should check their train connection before starting their journey.
