“We are very pleased that the Town has filed a Petition for Emergency Rule as well as a Motion for Reconsideration,” said Brenda Salseg. “Should the Town appeal the decision to circuit court, we are confident that a Court will find that the evidence does not support the decision."

Forest Voice, the grassroots community organization that opposes the Highland Wind Farm, today announced its support for a continued effort by the Town of Forest, St. Croix County, Wisconsin to oppose the project.
Forest Voice intends to continue to do everything it can to prevent the harm this project will cause, including providing strong support and encouragement to the Town Board.

Forest Voice intends to continue to do everything it can to prevent the harm this project will cause, including providing strong support and encouragement to the Town Board.
“We are appalled by the recent decision of the Wisconsin Public Service Commission, which voted 2 to 1 to approve the project. The two Commissioners who voted for the project entirely ignored the expert evidence that the software used by Highland Wind to predict noise from the turbines is based on mathematical calculations that are not intended for noises sources this tall or wind speeds as strong as those expected,” said Brenda Salseg. “There is no doubt that if this project is built, the noise produced will exceed the legal limits. As a result, the quality of life and the health of Forest township residents will greatly suffer.”
“We are very pleased that the Town has filed a Petition for Emergency Rule as well as a Motion for Reconsideration,” said Brenda Salseg. “Should the Town appeal the decision to circuit court, we are confident that a Court will find that the evidence does not support the decision. We have no confidence that the developers care about the residents of the town. They only care about making a profit at our expense. We intend to monitor every step of the project to insure that it follows the law and that health and low frequency-infrasound baselines are set before any industrial turbines commence generation. Further, we intend to file a formal complaint every time there is a violation of the law or the noise limits.”
The decision of the Public Service Commission to ignore several residents who testified about current health issues that will be exacerbated by the turbine noise is particularly disturbing. Forest Voice objects that neither the Town nor Forest Voice was allowed to participate in the closed door discussions between Highland and the Commission that identified six residences for lower sound limits while unfairly ignoring others.
