SNP politicians will face a protest from hundreds of anti-wind farm campaigners at the party's annual conference in Perth.

They will include members of Gask and Strathearn Protection Society, who are trying to stop the development of four turbines on farmland near Tibbermore.

Protesters are set to gather outside the conference venue during First Minister Alex Salmond's keynote speech on Saturday.

Campaigner Linda Holt said: "Folk from Shetland to the Borders, from Ayrshire to Fife have had enough. They feel powerless against predatory developers after fat subsidies and a Holyrood government deaf to the plight of rural folk threatened by turbines.

"Building turbines on our land and seascapes produces alien, alienating environments, hostile to man and beast.

"Only last week Alex Salmond insisted there was no serious evidence showing wind farms harmed landscapes and that no amount of foot-stamping would alter the government from pursuing a responsible course of action. We're calling on folk to come to Perth, stamp their feet and prove the First Minister wrong."

The conference comes days after First Minister Alex Salmond and Prime Minister David Cameron signed a deal to deliver a legally binding vote on independence in 2014.
