Opponents of a Trustpower windfarm planned for southern central Otago say they fear a new "wind-rush" in the region that could destroy its landscape and reputation.
Opponents of a Trustpower windfarm planned for southern central Otago say they fear a new "wind-rush" in the region that could destroy its landscape and reputation.
The Dunedin City Council was scheduled to decide yesterday if it would allow a piece of its land to be used for the windfarm of up to 150 turbines but says more investigation is needed.
The windfarm is one of two planned a few kilometres from each other on the edge of the Maniototo Plains, with Meridian Energy planning another 176 turbines.
A spokesman for the main opposition group, Richard Reeve, says the farms will destroy the views and environment in the unique and distinctive tussock land.
