Another problem is the noise, Next Era says the turbines sounds like a refrigerator running, Stephanie says while that is true some times, it's not all the time. She says sometimes it sounds like a jet engine, other times like metal being shaken, and a few times the turbines will start whistling.

Yesterday we showed you the benefits to building wind turbines, not only to the home owner but the community as well. And as hundreds of wind turbines are being built across the country, those benefits are turning into a nightmare for some of the people who had no choice of living next a wind turbine.

David and Stephanie Hulthen built their house in rural Dekalb County, Illinois 9 years ago, because they wanted the same peace and quite of country life they grew up with. But in the winter of 2009, the wind energy company Next Era started building wind turbines in the area,, including 2 that are 14 hundred feet from their home, and another 11 with in a mile.

And ever since the wind company has moved in their life has changed.

David say they a changed from a rural setting to an industrial one.

The Hulthen's were guest at a meeting for residents of southern Mercer and Auglaize Counties, and northern Darke County to get a different opinion on wind turbines. Next Era is also looking at locations in the tri-county area. And to make sure others understand the effects of wind turbines close to them, they started a blog to document the day to day effects of the wind turbines near their home.

Even though the energy may be called green, it's left a symbolic black cloud over their home in the form of an effect known as shadow flicker. Which is when a shadow is cast from a wind turbine blades spinning, and the shadow flickers on the wall. The Hulthen's says the flicker can be very intense some days and makes it hard to enjoy their home.

Another problem is the noise, Next Era says the turbines sounds like a refrigerator running, Stephanie says while that is true some times, it's not all the time. She says sometimes it sounds like a jet engine, other times like metal being shaken, and a few times the turbines will start whistling.

The couple wanted to make sure people understand the complete story that they are not getting from the wind energy companies.

And if turbines move into the area, you could have trouble seeing programs like Your News Now, wind turbines have been proven to make television reception poor or inconsistent in areas that the wind turbines are built in between viewers and television stations.
