No Sign of ND Wind Development Delays from Federal Bill

A provision in a federal military spending bill is holding up wind farm development in some states, but Public Service Commission President Tony Clark says he doesn`t know of any North Dakota delays.

The provision ordered the Defense Department to study whether wind turbines have an effect on military radar. It was put in because of a fight about whether wind towers should be installed in Nantucket Sound off the coast of Cape Cod in Massachusetts. As a result the Federal Aviation Administration has ordered a work stoppage on wind projects in some states.

Clark says he hasn`t heard of a stoppage in North Dakota. FPL Energy has finished two wind projects in North Dakota and is developing another one.
