Wind farm appeals in Environment Court

Both companies lodged appeals against the other being granted consent, and a group of nearby farmers have objected to both proposals.

The Environment Court has started considering appeals against the Hastings District Council granting consent for two wind farms near Te Pohue west of Napier.

Last year the council gave the green light to the Hawke's Bay power lines company Unison Network to put up 16 turbines close to the state highway between Napier and Taupo.

A month later it gave permission to Hawke's Bay Windfarm Limited to build a 75 turbine farm in the same area.
